Dorgo

Dorgo is a Larmac NPC in the Third Age of Dragonwright Rifts Campaign.
“Dorgo will have revenge against those who killed clan! This me swear!” -spoken by Dorgo
quietly into Ronin’s ear before begging Ronin to take Dorgo on as a squire.

Dorgo is a 3rd level Vagabond. He received a psychic vision plee for help from Valen after the church as built and relocated his entire clan there. Since then all his family have been slaughtered by the Coalition except himself and his cousin Torgo. Due to this Dorgo might just be the most motivated Larnac in the history of the race, and he has dedicated himself to being Ronin’s squire.
Never before has a LarMac wished to undergo the difficult trianing required to attain the title of Cyberknight. Ronin is not sure how the leading council of knights would react to his taking of such an unconventional squire. However Ronin can sense Dorgo may just have what it takes to attain knighthood, for his thirst for revenge is great enough.

After the Black Death

A week passes, with the group split up.

At the Ruins of the Temple of the Tree, Drago and Null scheme on which of Drago’s plundered gems to use to create TW devices. They finally decide on a Protection from Energy IPOD and a Infrared Visor which also shoots amplified Firebolts.

Valen sends out members of all three Claws to visit surrounding cities. They are to spread the faith of Dragonwright, in Kymnarkmar’s name. They are also to survey the destruction caused by the Black Death.

Valen then takes the three claw leaders and 7 other followers into the Behemoth, and they head back to Tolkeen. The TCDL has heard of the destruction caused by the Black death and holds an emergency meeting that night.

Valen speaks in front of the TCDL, who are Largely confused. The Noli offers his aide but is ignored.

“Earlier I stood here and tried to impart upon you the importance of following Kymnarkmar’s wisdom. The evil events set into motion by Styphanthal’s heretics threaten to undo the world from beneath you, yet you still sit stubborn and defiant.” *many shocked looks*

“The black death you see, is no alien sickness no, it is a curse, mystical in nature.”

“Only by purifying the Corruptor’s taint upon eleven can we be sure to stop this curse, this FOUL Black Death, unleashed upon us. You see, while you sit and play your paltry games of power grabbing and politicking, the REAL powers in the megaverse are moving behind the scenes to undo the lot of you! Styphanthal has not rested in his quest to dominate your lands, and his followers have a strong foothold here, now. They will try to slay the lot of you to satiate his hunger for death, if possible. I believe they have somehow corrupted the seal’s ability to focus energy, causing it to emit the Black Death.

Someone MUST go into the abyss and bring balance to eleven, or all will be lost. So sayeth Kymnarkmar the wise, and so it shall be!”

He then looks about to the mostly uncommitted crowd. Some people murmur to each other worriedly, but no-one steps forward or says anything, and people begin shuffling away embarrassed, as one does with someone who is rude or impolite. Valen gets a very frustrated look, and catches the Noli. The two start talking while Valen’s followers attempt to convert all the TCDL members to their “True” way of Dragonwright.

Valen begs the adventurers to fulfill their destinies and go to eleven.

He does not remember where exactly eleven is, though…

The members of TCDL once again scoff at Valen and his followers. Noone seems to belive he can truely protect against the Black Death (he can). A few people ask how to protect against it and are invited to come worship with Valen.
Cardinal states that the bounty on Pure Spring information has risen to 6Million, she has now been missing over a week.
At the Tolkeen Civil Defense League meeting Drago, Sparticus, Null, Valen and followers meet up with MAGE, Ronin and Dameon. Dameon looks very red-eyed, has scores of trackmarks and failed a save against nonleathal poison and is now diseased with Gonorrhea

While he doesn’t remember how he got them, Dameon also has tabs of Boing Go & Rush (2 melees to activate), Injectors of Crash (Active upon injection), and a bottle of “Happy Juice”. He has spent 20k on living large since he was last seen (p61 juicers))

The mercer estate is not in good repair, with the front lawn now a muddy mess of over 100 remaining orphans and refugees from earlier. Inside MAGE finaly disengages from his beloved Nymph and comes out to the noise from the Behemoth. Someone casts plant growth and brings the lawn back to health, making the many children happy who roll around in it with glee.
Drago sees a lady watching them with binoculars from across the street, teleports into her house and steals 20 Garnets worth of jewlery from her bedroom before teleporting them back and dumping them in Null’s lap.

The Nymph flitters around MAGE in the doorway to the estate, when suddenly another Faerie casts blinding flash on the group. After a brief scuffle where a cracked out Dameon tried to stab the Nymph with a syringe to free MAGE, Dameon lies comatose. He is badly charred from her call lightning which has disintegrated his body armor.

Seeing a chance to escape from Love, Mage Flees the estate with Ronin leaving the rest to heal Dameon. MAGE now seems oddly afraid to visit his own family estate…

At this point the group met up outside in a Jmart general outfitters store parking lot.

Hearing of Nulls plans, MAGE decides this group needs a vehicle, and selflessly purchases a Electric Moutaineer to hold them as well as new suit of body armor for Dameon.

Drago takes the Impervious to Energy IPOD and Null leaves with his Robot Vehicle to go to a trade show.

Ronin has a mage he found in the parking lot cast locate to find Kid, unsuccessful. Ronan is very disgruntled about this because Kid has frozen the group’s blackmartet accounts worth an estimated ~10mil due to their failing to kill a man Kid ordered whacked (Ronin saved the man).

The characters decide to visit Madtown in their search for the missing Pure Spring. They pay Bender to start camouflaging the Wartrolls outside town. Ronan and Drago astraly project and start flying around the town looking for her. They notice a very scared looking Weaver duck into a bar followed by two thugs but no girl. The group finds Weaver in the bar. Mage takes him to the bathroom and mystic portals him into the back of their Mountaineer. Drago takes Weavers form and teleports outside. The men attack him. Drago is chased to hide behind the Madtown fountain while being peppered with the railguns two hidden Thug controlled Dynamax’s use. MAGE magic nets the bots who then start firing wilding, blowing up cars and starting a massive fire. Sparticus battles a Thug who flees after seeing the bots netted. Ronan chops one thug in half and finds some money and 2 particle beam pistols with long Eclips.

The group flees before the Madtown police come to investigate the destruction.

Null Cheny

Null is the Rifts descendent of Dick Cheney.

Null has a Masters Degree in Techno Wizardry from the Tolkeen Techno-Wizard Institute of Engineering. After failing to earn his PhD he tired of academia and decided to go adventuring. He first met Drago and the others at TCDL meeting to discuss the Edict of Planetary Distress.

Valen and his followers call Null by the title holy transporter” in Dragonese (”aina’transporte”).

Valen’s followers have adopted him as one of their saints (as is Drago) for taking their people across the wasteland in his robot vehicle.

Pilgramidge to clense the Temple of the Tree

Drago and Sparticus sit outside the Mercer Mansion, while MAGE has locked himself inside with the Nymph he is now utterly smitten with.

MAGE renews his human feelings, long since kept dormant by the inhuman effects of being bonded to an Eye of Eylor, and after hearing strange noises from within the Mansion, Drago and Sparticus decide to speek to Valen as an excuse to vacate the area of noise.

Valen and his followers grow ever the more agitated, muttering about how Kymnarkmar must deliver them from this muddy earth to the Temple of the Tree which is rightfuly theirs to claim. Suddenly, the earth shakes, and a distant hallo of light can be seen to approach… The followers fall to their knees enraptured, at the approach of…

Null in his Behemoth Explorer Robot!

Must of Valens followers have never seen such a robot before and are gazing up at it in wonder from their kneeling positions, while Valen begins murmoring frantic prayers to Kymnarkmar.

Drago sees this as the opportunity they were hoping for, to deliver the pilgrims back to their Temple of the Tree, in the safety of Null’s robot. They load the Villagers into the Behemoth’s cargo hold, while angry commuters honk at the blockage of the ENTIRE road by the enourmous robot vehicle. Sparticus silences the most annoying horns with his powers while drago sternly tells motorists to “DRIVE AROUND”. They do this somewhat, leaving deep ruts dug into the Mercer estate front lawn. (see Mercer estate post for current property damage list to the estate since MAGE moved in!)

Valen grumbles that his followers should have as many weapons and armor suits as possible before the dangerous voyage. In the hold a view of the followers becomes clear. They sit uneasily in the cargo hold, as the Adventurers watch them interact with Valen. A poor bunch, they currently still only have rags and sticks.

Currently his forces are divided into 3 groups of 25 each. Valen calls them his “Kmnarkmar’s claws”

Tiri Claw(bright) is lead by Brother Rockwell the overweight former Ortonville Inn owner. It consists mainly of desperate patrons of Rockwell’s inn who lost everything when it burned.

Ohtar Claw (warrior) is lead by the pale-skinned Brother Gerome . It seems to consist of 5 of his male cousins and 19 other trashy relatives of Gerome, a twisted inbred bush of a family tree for sure. Gerome often is heard being yelled at by one more more females of the clan. While he is around near constant screams of “WE NEED MORE FORMULA” or “SUSYQ’s OUT OF DIAPERS, AGAIN” come from the many baby laden females of the clan. Gerome mutters something apologetic to the woman and after running his hand through his rapidly thinning hair, wanders off in search of a means to meet her demands.

Tinechor Claw (sheild) is lead by Sister Agatha. A tough old woman and trapper.

The claw symbols are a star, a fist and a shield. They will attempt to charcoal these onto their uniforms. Currently have sticks, crude clubs, and sharpened hardened wood spears.

The leaders are all very obviously learning to be 1st Level priests from Valen. They constantly follow him around while their followers nervously regard each other. Valen preaches at them about the qualities of following Kymnarkmar’s wisdom to true enlightenment. Gerome keeps asking about luck, Rockwell asks when they are settling down, and Agatha mentions that the woman and children will not be able to travel far or quickly and that they should plan for this.

The rest of the unlisted followers are 1-2nd level Vagabond OCC turned Dragonwright Disciples.

Since they have no food for the followers, Drago had planned on going hunting with the guide Bender who Drago paid 500 credits to lead them. 20 miles outside of town they stop and go hunting. Sparticus is too noisy and Bender laughs at him (no prowl skill) and tells him to get back.

They hunt a bit and after killing a deer find 2 Demonic owls who attack them! Bender is turned against Drago with Psionics and emptys his particle beam rifle into Drago’s back before clumsily trying to strike him with a sword. Drago gets Luck cursed by the fiends before Null is able to net one. The netted one starts Bio-manipulation Agonying drago, who engages the other Demon while writhing in pain. Drago holds one off while everyone else eventually succumbs to Bio-manipulation, dropping what weapons they have from numb arms.

Finally drago beats the one in front of him down enough with the Indian Fetish Spear until it flees. But not before it rips Drago’s beloved Gem from his chest. Uncloaked and unable to remain transformed forever now, Drago thinks retreat is a tempting option. They decide to grab what weapons they dropped with Drago’s tail (since all had paralyzed arms!), and then they flee back to the Behemoth Robot-vehicle. It plods to Treetown without any problems.

Arriving at Treetown finds the temple in further disarray.
Where the Tree was blasted with the suitcase, is a scorched area clear of vegetation, but everywhere else it seems that the forest has overgrown everything in sight! Sparticus uses his electricity scanning powers to detect the mines and then explodes them with telekinesis. One damages a side of the church. There are still numerous mines inside the church which Sparticus can detect but not disarm safely. Valen uses his stone magic and creates a simple barracks for his followers next to the church ruins.
Drago sees a Yema in the ruins of the church, it casts a spell of strange swirling lights over the area. The Yema Mesmurizes most of the followers and Drago and Null manage to fight it off while Sparticus stands in awe of the pretty lights (failed save). Drago and null beat on it to no avail for awhile before Drago torches it with his firebreath. After it stops moving they hear a sonic boom in the distance…

Entering the church hits Drago with another Mine. Sparticus doesn’t think he should explode the mines he defiantly still sense in the church interior living quarters (Ronan’s church quarters is mined). So he leaves them for later…

Updated church description:

Steep black roof blown off at about 50′ up, it ends 30′ early in a jagged charred hole. The entire inside of the main hall of worship is covered in leaves and rainwater puddles. The ornately carved pillars have been damaged, and painted on pillar is “d-bees suck”. Of the four dragons out front, not much but rubble remains. The entire front entrance has collapsed. furnished dining halls intact in back (Narthex mined, ruined), quarters for the four priests of Dragonwright (intact in basement, mined), Fine Rooms north of parlor 1-3 destroyed (Ronan’s #4 in basement mined, 5-6 intact in basement), as well as meditation room(empty Sacristy) - and rooms for specific ceremonies (bapistry, sanctuary) full of destroyed remnants of candles)



The Temple of the Tree, parlor, transept, tower are all destroyed.

The church is haunted by haunting entities who have taken on the form of the slain Larnac children (killed when the Coalition raided Treetown while the adventurers were gone).
The ghosts especially accuse the living of not saving them and letting them die. (empathic transmission save against horror!)
The followers will begin cleaning up the outside of the church first, leaving Valen to weep inside about the destruction. Soon a small shanty town is put up around the burnt remnants of the old Larnac huts. It looks very pathetic in its current state.

The 75 original Ortonvillagers Valen recruited live in the 2 Barracks buildings he creates with stone magic.

The 10 additional followers Valen recruited while in Tolkeen live outside in a shanty town near the burnt Larnac huts.

Drago arms the followers with the case of C-14’s he teleported back to the Tree earlier. He also gives Agatha a vibro-sword.

SUDDENLY, THERE IS A DEEP RUMBLING FROM THE EAST, AND THE SKY THERE…DIMMS ALOMST TO BLACKNESS. IT IS CLEAR THE RUMBLING APPROACHES, AS DOES THE DARKNESS!

45 seconds later the blackness is upon the camp. Drago is caught outside trying to rescue followers. Valen manages to get all 75 of the Ortonvillagers inside, and Drago saves 4 of the Tolkeenite followers, but 6 perish in the blackness… Sparticus is also caught outside and lapses into a coma (-10hp). Drago is only able to raise him from 10 hours later with the aide of many “Light healing” incantations. Sparticus is not quite the same after the near-death encounter…
It seems buildings created by Valen are somehow blessed and resist the black energy which drains life from all it touches.

Drago notices nothing but plants and lower lifeforms seems to live in the path of the blackness.

Drago goes into the forest and collects a vast pile of carcasses which he packs into a ditch lined with ice created with walls of ice. While gathering he sees a dead indian brave outside their camp.

The people are fed for now from vast stores of chilled meat, but the adventurers worry about just how wide the destruction was.. Drago teleports back to Tolkeen to warn King Creed but is coldly handled by his bureaucracy and after failing to gain a direct audience, Drago files a “apololypse 2-B” form with the receptionist and teleports back to the Temple of the Tree.

Shortly after the blackness recedes, a small swarm of Xiticix warriors descend on the camp. Drago and Sparticus blow them up with grenades and recoilless rockets.

Pure Spring has wandered off in search of contacts for the TCDL as part of one of the tasks discussed at the meeting discussing the edict of planetary distress. She hasn’t made contact in over 24hours and one of the TCDL’s acting leaders wants her back. He offers 5million.

After hiring the guide, Bender, Drago and Sparticus decide to first visit Borderline. Corrupt magic weilding cops demand a payoff for letting Sparticus go wearing his powerarmor. Sparticus responds by blowing up most of the cops soldiers. Drago and Sparticus manage to kill the Cops and destroy the Cops Magic Constructs. One of the cops mystic portals off the back of a Construct before they can kill him as well. Stealing the robots sword, Sparticus and Drago retreat back to Tolkeen. Sparticus’s Robot suffered a primary combat computer failiure in the battle (-1ata and other negatives). Bender gets paid 3500 credits and is seen hanging around in the front yard of MAGE’s estate…

Valen looks increasingly nervous and keeps murmuring about how the sacred pilgrimage to the Temple of the Tree must begin soon and this his followers will need some miracle to safely carry them across the wasteland. Drago finds 2 trucks that could take them but they cost 55000 credits each. (Fat Vic the seller wont negotiate lower, these are good quality armored trucks, but used).

Before they went after the checklist, Drago got a job offer from Kid to “talk” to one Dan the Savage, rumored to be holed up in the Crocked Sister, a bar in Hilcrest. Drago, Mage, Sparticus and Dameon have a botched hit on Dan where Mage finds a demon locust hiding on the bars top, they retreat back trying to keep knowledge of their illicit task from Ronan. Of course Ronan finds out, and trys beating them back to the bar. They have a pitched battle where Dan turns out to be a horrifically scarred Psistalker with a crew of 10 more riding Skycycles covered in skulls. Dan is upstairs guarded by an Angrar Mark II. Ronan defeats the Mark II and chases Dan down and protects him from Drago’s murderous wrath.

Drago fights with an Angrar Assault robot for a moment before rescuing Sparticus’s very blown up body from the scene. They flee, alive.

Ronin delivers Dan to a group of Metzla’s he found out about from one of Kid’s friends. They have captured Kid in retribution for the previous failed hit. In return for Dan they free Kid. Kid is pissed and leaves.

Cardinal wont confirm dating her romantically one way or another, but he has put down a 5000000credit bounty on her safe return. *snickers* We have a stack contact lists here if anyone wants to go after that little minx. Talk to knickers for the numbers on this one, 4-1 odds that Tico the Hyperion Juicer finds her first! (*to astonished boos and some half hearted cheers*) hey hey now, I’ll bet any of you Tico finds her first! Don’t be a chicken, bet against him if you dare! (a small booky type dbee wearing a visor starts taking bets from a line of laughing TCDL members)
Next up, a fresh round of nukes came at Tolkeen central this afternoon, you might have noticed the flashes? Our trigflekters held em off though! *mad cackles* let em try those CS bastards!

Also strange reports of a glowing black light to the west after the blasts…since faded. Rumors abound about a rash of mysterious deaths in the Wildwoods barony, as of yet unsubstantiated. (Wildwoods is west of Tolkeen).

Tensions in Kings Tower tonight, as King Creed discusses the implication of recent Coalition aggression and announcement of its foul \”Crusade for Humanity\”. We got you all a copy of it too…
Coalition armies are seen digging in on the border of Wisconsin with increasing frequency, claiming to protect the areas there from \”skeleton raiders\” as \”an act of good faith, to allay the fears of those who call upon us for hope\” We sure could use some accurate numbers on just how many more they\’ve moved in…

The Mercer Estate

I’ll be using Claymont’s images, yea thanks. Replace Claymont with Mercer!

The entire house is made out of stone. It has a vaguely Romanesque feeling to it.

There is about 100ft of lawn in any direction before the next neighbors house. One side of the house faces the lake. This is the side MAGE Shanty town is currently built on.
Here are the maps of the estate. Fredric the Second had a room in Room #8 of the upstairs farthest away from his father in the master bedroom. The master bedroom door is warded in at least three different languages and radiates powerful magic.

One is in an unreadable language.

A big one in English says:

What does man love more than life
Fear more than death or mortal strife
What the poor have, the rich require,
and what contented men desire,
What the miser spends and the spendthrift saves
And all men carry to their graves?

A smaller one in Dragonese says:

Thin, I am quick,
Fat, I am slow,
Wind is my foe.

Next to the door is a Candlestick with a candle which never seems to burn down on a ledge.

Also on the ledge is a strange abacus like contraption built into the wall numbers on them in a pattern like this:

At the foot of the stairs next to room #4’s entrance lies a suit of ancient platemail armor on a stand, covered in dust. Iris room was Mercer the first’s old laboratory… The library mainly consists of technical documentation but there is a bookshelf with fiction and some pre-rifts novels.





The obvious house assets include:

1 Combat Programmed NG-W9 Light Labor Bot w/ batteries (chaufer/butler/gardener, recharging in garage)

2 magical constructs in shape of beautiful women, statues. (outside of dad’s door)

Art collection possibly worth something… Many strange artifacts litter the mansion.

Fully stocked bar, kitchen, laundry facilities.
TW Power-generator, pump, and Well in basement.
Most rooms have a computer console built into a wall somewhere discrete.


Parked in garage sits Mercer the first’s pride and joy, a Dodge Rocket (red with flames)
It appears there were once flesh and blood workers here but they seem to have vacated the area, it has an vacant in feel to it.

Inside the house on the guest quarters door is the following note in gobbley:

“MERCER: YOU NO PAY, URK NO WORK. URK LEAVING. MERCER PAY URK, URK WORK. DIS DEAL. BYE -URK”

Property Damage list:

The grounds are in obvious disarray, with the shanty town trampling what unmaintained landscaping remained.
Wall in hallway scorched.
Hole cut in floor by psiswords from Room 3 of floor 2 to Floor one.� This ocured in an altercation between Drago and Ronin.
Lights in front floyer all burned out, as is the computer console.� This happend when Sparticus badly injured drew too strongly from the mansions aging wiring.
Large trail of tire tracks where cars drove around Behmoth in front lawn.

Dragos Atlantis Adventure

Constantly having an itchy tail for adventure, Drago teleports to Atlantis. While his companions enjoy some well deserved R&R after their raid against the Coalition, Drago hoped to get in some shopping.

His dreams quickly turned to nightmares as he is captured outside the Splynn Market by a
black Balrog with a white crown of bone. Drago has a Zombitron placedon him and is teleported to the Balrog’s hell dimension.

There the Balrog explains that Drago can have his freedom, if he only does the Balrog a favor. “You need to take my daughter shopping, she needs to buy a pug” is all the big Demon says before jumping through a portal and leaving Drago in the hell dimension, a cavernous black cave with a mystic portal in one corner and little else.

BOOM BOOM BOOM heres Drago, and he quickly sees a smaller female Balrog enter, also black with a white tiara of bone. She screeeches “DAaaaaaaady” (think the paris Hilton of Balrogs).

Seeing daddy has fled, she coos “OOOh a new pet, are YOUUU taking me to get my pug dog?” Drago tries to resist but the Zombitron lets her control him like a leash. She beats on him for awhile while “cuddling”.
He agrees and she teleports them both back to the Splynn market. Drago tries resisting a few times but finds it difficult (save vs magic ss12 every action of freewill). She almost leads hiim into getting hit by a flying boat as well (go +6 sixth sense dodge roll!)
Finaly he sees a sign with a dead dog, rising up, a dead human rising up and a dead…something rising up.

The dog looks promising, so he enters the Re-animators shop (of Splynn Dimensional Market stardom). The fellow wants a hefty sum to re-animate a pug corpse he just so happens to have on hand. Drago offers him his OWN dragon hand in return for the Pug. The Re-animator agrees, and while shaking pricks Drago with something. HE then leads drago to a chained up Tatooed Ogre who makes a flaming sword and removes one of Drago’s hands.

The pug is re-animated into a grotesque greater undead zombie-pug, and while the female Paris-Balrog squeals indelight, Drago manages to escape!

HE runs outside and is hit by a flying boat maned by D-ghouls. Impaled on a unicorn head on their boats bow, he pulls himself from its horn and falls to the earth…

Finaly free, he teleports back to Tolkeen, handless and bruised. Enough Atlantis for one day…

Rescue the Ortonvillagers

4th melee later the 2 enforcers come online and a platoon of deadboys emerge from the building next to it.
Inside the main barracks building are another 5 Squads of S&D Bravo Company(p28sb1).
Inside the hangar is the battle tank from before, now running. The APCs are gone but the tank bears marks of paint the color of the APCs and is still scrached from where it was obviously towed to the base. There are also two small CS fighter Jets.

All the CS troops are slain or driven off.

Lo-Pei steals one of the jets and uses it to shoot down an incoming Deaths head transport before fleeing. Sparticus steals the other jet, and Kid steals the tank. They take the convoy out of the area with the villages back inside their cattle cars. At the border of Mizereen they are hailed by a Flying Boat Police Patrol. The adventures meet with the Mizereen forces and make some deals with them before being given an escourt back to Tolkeen. At tolkeen they sell the Jet and Tank to Kid for about 14 million black market credits.
Prominent Prisoners:



Space Time Kid.This rugged young man is wearing a ripped t-shirt. You can see he has this tattoo across his chest. With a broken nose smiles and says “what took you so long?” He is badly beaten and has fresh prisoner tattoos bleeding on the back of his neck. He sighs a relief muttering “finally” and after finding smokes on a dead trooper lights up and sits contentedly watching the carnage and nodding. “Just get me back to Tolkeen, I’ll make it worth your while. Kid asks for “a radio, give me any peice of shit radio NOW”… and starts making radio scrambler rolls…65% 1min per try, and he gets progressively frantic. ..

Lo-Pei“These are my cousins, Fo-Pei and Go-Pei, my “War-Troll Warriors” Fo-Pei has a black eye and Go-Pei has his arm in a crude splint of some kind wraped with a clearly bloodstained bandage. (assume coordinates are somewhere on the way back to Tolkeen)
The Esteemed Mister and Missus Orton (Orton is a comatose walrus-like Dbee who has been nearly beaten to death and his family (wife, 2 daughters) who care for him. Recognized as mayor of Ortonville. The Ortons are all Mystics. (9th, 5th, 1st,1stlevels respectively). He will need emergency care immediately or he will die.

They mention that before the players came… there were twice as many but over half were killed when they refused to work after a child was blinded by one of the old machines.

They say they heard the troops discussing how Underhill never used to be like this until he started studying under the notorious General Drogue. And how now they have to waste time beating on lame refugees instead of going after the real menaces of Tolkeen.
Upon returning to Tolkeen, a full 100 of the villagers will beg the characters for something, anything to help them get by! Ronin gives them 50k, or about 333cr a peice from his share of the funds raised by selling Kid the tank and jet.
These villagers have little but the clothes on their backs. The other half have some relatives or friends in the city who will take them in. Of the villagers who are left, Valen manages to convert 75 of them and now has an army of rabel following him around.

100 ortonvillager refugees currently have a shanty town built on the front lawn of MAGE’s father’s estate in Tolkeen. The neighbors are starting to stare, but MAGE’s father is not home to see their admonishing stares…

“MAGE Shantytown” currently has a population of 25 Adults ,50 human children and 25 malnourished d-bee children. They are lead by a 50year old woman named Joan and her 3 daughters.

Update 11/1/2007: To make things interesting I decided a new player has to start 1 level below the lowest level in the group. So Sparticus starts at 3rd level.� His background consists of petty crimes with Dameon, followed by one big failed heist which landed him in prison.

Valen, Dorgo and Torgo (3rd,2nd lvl Vagabonds), and 75 Ortonvillager refugees converts are also still with the party. They have used their 333cr to purchase rations and supplies and are ready to make the holy pilgrimage back to what remains of the Dragonwright church.

Search for the Ortonvillagers

After the TCDL meeting MAGE and Drago met a techno-wizard named Null from tolkeen who offered to take them after the villagers in his Behemoth explorer robot vehicle. After many failed land navigation rolls they are currently…somewhere outside of town possibly near the old tracks left by the retreating Skeleton Raider convoy. After bashing a Devil unicorn to death with his robot while MAGE Sub particle accelerated it, Null pulls the robots hand from the ground where it was stuck after the battle.After 2 minutes of checking the half eaten remains the beast had in its mouth, the sounds of whooping can be heard and the beating of galloping hooves…something is approaching quickly through the underbrush ahead of the river clearing where the Devil Unicorn attacked earlier..
NULL hears the sounds and unexplicably plods off into the forest in his giant robot vehicle, leaving MAGE and Drago behind. Shortly after Ronan meets up with them, Dorgo and Porgo in tow riding a beat up motorcycle. They too are looking for the tracks of the APCs. Porgo mutters about the revenge he will have upon the CS scum who have slain his cousins and kin when suddenly….!

From with in the forest is thrown a spear. Lord Murgush and the Vulchers of Tolkeen are operating in this area. Porgo is greviously wounded by the spear, and Ronan nearly kills Murgush’s mount with his railgun. Murgush offers his aide in hunting the coalition is and is denied by the group. Since Murgush is a member of the TCDL, MAGE decides not to kill him and his dinosaur riding tribe.Finding again the APC tracks leads to a camp in western Wisconsin, like the layout at p106.ts5On their way a CS sky cycle patrol of 2 spots them.The camp is made of chainlink fence only (50SDC/10ft), and to the left of it lies a base under construction. Only the foundations have been poured so far.The camp consists of 24 cabins in shabby condition, and a few heavy military looking buildings with antennas on top, along with a hangar and a few guard towers made of steel every so often along the fence.
The troops inside have cleared at least 1000ft on any given side of derbies and have a clear line of fire to anything approaching.

At any given time at least 3 platoons (8 each) of live soldiers and 24 skelebots can be seen guarding the fence in the posts.

Parked outside the Hangars is a banged up Mechanized Search and Destroy Ground Squad 2IAR-1s

to the left of the base you see some 100 of the citizens of Ortonville working with pick-axes on the foundation of the structure being built. A few of the workers have dangerous looking mining equipment which looks ancient, dented and scratched. Each is attached to a huge drum of fuel fed into the machine with a long black hose.
Watching them is a psi-emblemed coalition soldier, and 7 dogboys.

Drago teleports to one of the tower’s soldiers manning the walls, while MAGE and Ronan use invisibility:superior from MAGE’s Eyelor harness to sneak up to one of the IAR-1s. Mage casts Mystic:Portal to enter it while the Dogpack howl in dismay at the magical incursion. MAGE gives him a keycard stolen earlier which by a stroke of luck activates the IAR-1.

Ronan watches in dismay as MAGE blasts happless Ortonvillagers, mining equipment, and a few Dogpack watching them. Ronan then takes control of all the guns (only he can actualy pilot the robot) and demolishes most of the Coalition forces. 6 Skelebots finally manage to shut down his stolen robot with heavy sustained laser fire.
1st mellee: 24 soldiers & 6 skelebots per side attack, Drago whipes out one tower’s worth. Porgo and Dorgo attempt to charge across towards the base on their motorcycle, promptly hit a land mine, and retreat back into the forest badly injured.
2nd melee 6 more skelebots arrive Drago whipes out a second tower after teleporting out and back in gurilla style. Ronan and MAGE blow up the guard towers, some dogpack and skelebots with the hijacked IAR-1.
3rd melee the first IAR comes online and battles the stolen one. Both are shutdown in battle as 6 more skelebots arrive peppering them with lasers.

the League conveens…

As they recharge on the LeyLine, Valen sags into exhaustion, barely able to stand. Treetown to the west heavily mined, Ortonvill a smoldering ruin with little medical services, they seem to have nowhere to go. Then comes a warm chiming noise from their TCDL communicators:

All members requested at TCDL central for discusion of recent Edict of Planetary Distress Issued by Plato, Head of the Council of Learning at the Free State of Lazlo.

Hearing the Edict, Valen simply grimaces and states “It is as Kymnarkmar has long fortold, the Devourer is moving on earth, and evil is spreading surely as ripples spread from a rock tossed into still water. Take me to the leaders of your TCDL and I will speak unto them Kymnarkmar’s wisdom.”

Arriving at TCDL headquarters, MAGE remembers he does in fact still maintain a small residence here. The headquarters are in a converted missile launch tube outside of town. Outside quickly turns into a festival like atmosphere, with oddities arriving from all directions. The above ground building at the TCDL headquarters is a small farmhouse and barn.

Quickly it becomes apparent that the numerous arrivals are going to overfill the bases modest interior, and a structure resembling a stage is being built outside the barn from what appears to be random scrap metal.

They take Joe to and from the meeting in a Death-Knight assault robot followed by numerous Naruni hover pods. Two of the troops wear Mecha-Knight Powerarmor and fly an honor guard for the robot vehicle.
The troops carry 2 heavy attach cases each, stocked with items which they proceed to hawk to anyone with the credit.

Plato, a kindly old man via magic portal live from Lazlo

Katmandu (old friend of Drago’s) He wears a patch over one eye and carries a strange alien item tied to the end of a stick. It glows faintly red in the light and you think you see an LED blinking somewhere under the rawhide which has been used to secure it to the end of the stick.
By the end of the second day, a large group of a few hundred concerned citizens and members of TCDL has formed. Also arriving is Dr. Gellers Carnival of Wonders (p67 new west) who starts profiting off the idle crowds with games of skill and chance aranged on the back of their wagons.

Finally the time comes, a large crowd gathers around the haphazard stage. Richard Helion is a skinny brown skinned man who takes to the podium on stage.

“Greetings, members of the Tolkeen Civil Defense League, and our honorable guests..” he intones.

“Many of you have traveled long miles to get here, and with great risk. But rest assured your coming was of the utmost importance. Each of you understands what is at stake here or you would not have arrived on such short notice. Now then, I will leave you with Plato, live via Rift to Lazlo…”

With much ado, Goezumi steps into the stage, drawing a circle there. He utters a sound in dragonese (”come forth elder”) and activates the circle with a flash of light. After a moment, directly above him appears Tannhauser, an Adult Great Horned Dragon, one of the Dragon Kings of Freehold.

“GREETINGS, LITTLE ONES” Tannhauser roars.

“I WILL SHOW YOU PLATO, NOW. LISTEN WELL TO HIS WORDS”

He then opens a Rift. On the other side sits a man behind a desk in a room with finely polished wood paneling.

After the reading Tannhauser roars in sadness and says “PONDER HIS MESSAGE LITTLE ONES”

Then in a much more jovial voice he goes on: “PLATO! IT HAS BEEN CENTURIES SINCE WE LAST PLAYED STONES. LET US PLAY AND SPEAK MORE OF YOUR EDICT IN PRIVATE”

He then says something quietly into the ear of Goezumi , and steps into the rift, closing it behind him”

Helion again takes the podium. “Thank you for that, Goezumi . We of the TCDL are in gratitude to Freehold’s support in discussing this issue”

Scaard speaks up: “Helion, don’t tell me you understand any of these vague predictions do you? What exactly does this MEAN for all of us? Tolkeen’s defenses have held off plenty in the past, why are we to believe these will be different?” The murmors of the 20 heavily armed bodyguards surrounding Scaard confidently echo through the clearing, as the rest of the attendees fall silent and look on them nervously.

Helion shrugs and stares back at Scaard. “Commander, we mean not to disparage the skill of Tolkeen’s valiant armed forces. Your men do a fine job keeping order in the city but I fear these problems may be greater than you realize”

Scaard laughs harshly before barking a command to his men “ten-HUT, move em out sold-JERs”. As his men begin filing off he turns in the saddle of his robot horse. “Find me when you get some real intel other than this vague mumbo jumbo crap”

Mida and Malik stand under a shelter deployed form the side of the black limo, speaking with its occupant. The purple mage catches their attention and the Limo drives off.

Helion clears his throat over the commotion and states over the PA system:

“Well then, again I would like to thank all of you for coming. The TCDL has always had a mutually beneficial relationship with Tolkeen’s standing army and allies. However with the dark days our more sensitive members know are coming, there are a few active plans I would like us to consider as soon as possible”

He takes out a laser pointer and points to a holographic image which comes out of a small black box mounted on the stage.

“Devourer possibles” says the slide, and then with bullet points:

“Again, these are the most well known threats to our Kingdom as far as we know it. Every year the Xiticix encroach a bit closer to Tolkeen’s boarders, as do the Coalition. But which if any of them are the culprits? And what of those other strange prophecies?”

I recommend we assist Scaard by increasing our weapons imports from Northern Gun by 50% over the next few weeks.

He won’t admit he needs help, oh no not that guy, but just to be safe we should begin stockpiling now. I am going to put forth a petition to Creed to create a reserve army from members of the general populace. A lot of Tolkeen citizens are not skilled in Magic but would fight to protect their country if given the chance. I am sure we could have a battalion at least for use in conscription if the city does one day fall under siege. I know it sounds impossible, but we must think about the needs of Tolkeen far in to the future if we are to survive.
He puts up a slide showing two line-graphs, one ziz-zags down while the other zig-zags up.

“My numbers show an increase in Coalition aggression towards the merchants importing from the Northern Gun area. The united arm’s dealers aliance UADA has been a friend of the League from the start.

They notice public opinion of Tolkeen in NorthernGun territory is shifting from tolerant to leery at best. The situation here seems to degenerates into ongoing boarder skirmishes with Coalition forces. We need a discreet squad of TCDL members to head the journey to NG. Our last 2 trade emissaries disappeared, so this will be a dangerous job. Securing additional armaments to protect Tolkeen has to be one of our number one priorities!

The Naruni floats up to Richard on a hover-chair. “Fear not, I Trader Joe have heard of this increased misfortune in business you share with Northern Gun. Can I not interest you in fine Naruni goods?

Richard eyes the Naruni skeptically “Perhaps it was you who caused problems with NG, in your eagerness to increase your own profits?”

“Oh no sir, I am but a humble Trader Joe” Says the Naruni sincerely, however you suddenly notice the three hover pods floating around him seem to have sprouted a few extra weapons nozzles…

Richard dismisses him “Go sell your goods elsewhere, I have heard of the prices you charge and I am afraid we have not the credit for such alien hardware”

“But sir!” shouts someone from the back “Surely we can pilfer from the pockets of the Coalitions own to pay for such a noble effort?”

There are murmurs in the crowd and the Noli starts frowning deeply.

Richard has a slight smile and goes on “Yes, and that is part of plan two. We must increase our intelligence gathering outside the borders of Tolkeen, especially to the south east. The recent nuking of the Fargo hive proved most troublesome. Did anyone ever locate the hive and assess its damage?” After some discussion about the reason of recent Coalition covert ops that have been so active behind Tolkeen’s lines, he goes on.
“No matter, the Triangular defense system of Tolkeen has withstood the Coalition’s might in the past, I do not believe their tactic has succeeded in driving the Xiticix to war with us. But I have several small Villages to the southeast I would like TCDL representatives to negotiate information-sharing agreements with. We must bring all in the path of the Coalition to the fold, for their own safety and ours.

“We already have Hillcrest” he says with a smile to the Great Purple Mage, but I would like TCDL agents to meet with people from Hogswaller, Borderline, Mad Town and Chimera. Deny affiliation to TCDL and Tolkeen if you must, but we must insure warning of Coalition troop movements in those areas reaches our ears well before they penetrate too deeply into the Kingdom.

Nevertheless I believe we must initiate more long range recon squads into Wisconsin, we simply do not know enough about the Coalition’s movements out there. If we can get enough reliable recon from our contacts we should be able to exact a fairly good revenge in aquired hardware and slain Coalition scum.
“Now I will have an open forum on recent news and trouble sighted in the Tolkeen area.”

Numerous members stand and recount tails of increased aggression from Skeleton-motif clad warriors attacking Tolkeen trade routes.

The Noli mentions his group has heard of a CS incursion locked in battle with forces at Soloman. The city is known to be neutral to both sides which is strange, but none the less Tokeen has sent a force to repell the Coalition. They seem to be holding them off for now.

Simaraf mentions that he would like to lead a group to Africa to search for one of the evils mentioned in Plato’s edict.

Telling of how Ortonville’s inhabitants were recently hauled off by the Coalition, Richards face darkens.

“How can this be?” He says angrily. “We have reliable information inside the Coalition that there were no active special forces at work in Tolkeen this month. This information was bought with the blood of our supporters. Surely what you speak of must be the work of these “Skeleton raiders” whoever they are!” He trails off sputtering before continuing a bit unsteadily. “However if you ARE right and they were Coalition, the command to work so deeply behind Tolkeen’s lines would have had to come from…” he stops with a choke “the highest levels of the Coalition…otherwise our Measures could have…decrypted it.” He trails off into technocan speaking of encryption algorithms and why he is unable to decode orders.

*coughs* “Anyway, we must free those citizens! Even the backwoods Barony is enough of an Allie to Tolkeen that we cannot simply let its citizens be carted off to god knows what fate!”

Valen quietly clears his throat.

“If you will Sir Helion, I would like my chance to speak at your podium”

“Oh?, Well then go ahead I was about done anyway.” Says Richard despondently. At this point many of the TCDL members have begun quietly speaking to themselves and quite a few aren’t really paying attention.

Valen hobbles up the steps to the podium. He turns his head across the crowd, of about 200 remaining members of the various organizations and community groups whose representatives have been invited. “Thank you” his says with some effort “for taking the time to hear what have to sa-y” his voice cracks with a metallic grind, and you can see him grimace in pain.

“Have you seen it?” He asked hurriedly, gesturing wildly then wincing at what
might be a cracked rib.

“I could almost feel it in the air…the unspeakable evil…when my captors passed the remains of the Fargo hive. There I saw madness, the shambling bodies of badly disfigured Xiticix wobbling about in a grotesque parody of life. Whatever the Coalition did to that hive, the hive has been shown to be rotten in the middle. More rotten with Styphon’s evil than anywhere else close.

Tell me, did you see his symbol on any? *he traces the symbol seen earlier on the super warrior”.

He trails off coughing, and after spitting up a little blood he continues to speak.

“It is time you know more of my past, for my time here may be short and you must all live on to retell these tales.
I am Valen of the Bagh-Dach Clan of True Atlanteans.

My brothers in Dragonwright, bless them, and I were descendants of peoples sent to guard the 13 sacred seals set through out the earth. You see, long before humans were granted intellect by the gods, the Dragons-gods realized the potential and had already put in plans to guard Earth. In his infinite wisdom, Kymnarkmar knew that mankind could grow to be a powerful race. He also knew that this Earth was important.

My ancestors taught me this Earth is a Keystone planet, meaning that it acts as a stabilizer for all planets linked to it, via magic, gravitation, or any other force.

As Civilizations on Earth grew, my people were sent by Kymnarkmar to protect Earth. According to legend, a great protection spell was laid upon her skin. To do so the ancients had to sanctify 13 points with a ritual known only to the high priests of Dragonwright.

By the time my people the had come to dominate this Earth, man’s civilizations were barely a flyspec in comparison to what we had. And in those times the majority of Atlanteans were… shall we say.. hesitant to embrace the wisdom of balance and restraint endowed upon the lucky followers of Kymnarkmar. In their arrogance they brought destruction to earth, draining her magic and inactivating the great 13 set by Kymnarkmar’s will into
her skin. Thus ended the first age of Dragonwright.

We true followers of Dragonwright did not merely flee this planet as did many of our kind, no we stayed, and nurtured the civilizations of man that grew up around the sacred seals.

I only know of a few of the Seals locations. Few people of my age even believed that they existed. But we the faithful knew of some of their locations, and guarded them well.
In the rites of Kymnarkmar, it is uttered that:

“Battle the devourer, he who seeks to corrupt the seals and weaken keystone earth.

Give him no quarter lest he break free of his unholy prison.

Let the faithful of the true church of Dragonwright watch over these seals with zest.

Prevent their falling to evil for they can undo this world, and all worlds.

He hesitates, frowning sadly before continuing:

“Some of us still guarded the seals well until the Darkening. Our followers survived the return of magic to this land, and again convinced what good people remained around the seals to take up their protection. But with the coming of the rifts, the Devourer’s prison was weakened, and he began to…seep out into the world. Strengthened by Earth’s new mystical forces, I believe Styphon himself birthed Syphathal into this reality.

No one knows for sure what the foul beast Styphanthal’s origins are, but his direction at first was clear. He stopped at nothing to bring about the total annihilation of any and all followers of the true Church of Dragonwright. We faltered before his fury, and were slain or taken captive one by one until none was left.

Since I have heard this Syphathal makes a mockery all Dragongods. He has proclaimed HIMSELF a god, and supreme leader of the foul Cult of Dragonwright.

This heresay cannot continue, but I quibble not with religious doctrine or Syntax, but with all of our very survival. You see, his followers have managed to corrupt all the seals they know of. Mine was once located… somewhere around the area the old Man called Fargo… I…remember so little of it due to my torture at times…everything is a fog.. *coughs before continuing*

But I do remember my clan’s headquarters were the British Isles at Seal 9.

I was sent to Seal 11 in Fargo after the Europeans caused the fall of the Native American’s in that area. Until I arrived there were no surviving members of the church left to do Kymnarkmar’s divine work. I don’t know if any of my clan in the Isles survived, but surely some members of family Bagh and family Dach most exist somewhere there.

The only other Seals I know of were guarded primarily by other Atlantean Clans. Fellow followers of Dragonwright would sometimes share notes at the all clan meetings so I came to meet my fellow priests. A childhood friend, Monica of Clan Skellian was head priestess at Seal 4 in Puru. Then there was wise old Huang He of Clan Amaterasu, guardian of Seal 6 in China. I also know the Iliad Clan guarded Seal 8 in Crete. ”

He coughs, looking about at their reactions.

“Why should I care you must be thinking? Surely these are the prophecies of a madman? I do not expect all to embrace Kymnarkmar’s divine grace so easily. Surely even you can sense bad things ahead though?

Perhaps through the wisdom of the Dragonwright I can help steer you and those you care about safely through the difficult times ahead…the Devourer is coming! And through Kymnarkmar’s wisdom, I can show you when and how it will come…I swear it..we must reconsecrate the seals before it is too late…”
*coughing he continues*

“But know ye this, the way to the Seals is most likely fraught with danger begot from the evils which befell them in our failure. Evils yes, but according to legend to bring consecration to a seal so pleases Kymnarkmar and his brothers that blessings of mystical enlightenment are sure to fall upon the worthy. I beg of you great League of Tolkeen, lend me your most worthy champions, for Seal 11 must be cleansed or all will be lost!”
Valen then falls over, passing out. Close examination shows he is very weak and has lost alot of blood, its amazing he was even conscious at all…

“Ahem, yes well then now that the deluded old man has finally passed out, let this meeting of the TCDL be ended. Don’t forget to reapply for your monthly Freebooter license to operate in the east. If you do not have a license some of the more… aggressive security forces may think you the enemy. Scavenger hunts as usual, good luck and thanks for coming everyone, please do stay as long as you’d like.”

Richard and his supporters and friends then go back into the farmhouse.

“Don’t mind him” Says the Noli, “I would like to hear more of your friends story”.

“As would I” states Rez with a Grin! “Me too!” Says Katmandu.
The Noli states courageously “I have heard rumors of the cult of Dragonwright in the magic zone, lead by a beast known as Nrrii”…

Trader Joe makes one more offer for weapons sales before departing in his Robot.

The rest of the groups start departing, all eagerly discussing their part in the plans laid out by Richard.

By the time Valen is revived, no-one remains other than the Noli, Katmandu, and oddly enough Lord Murgesh. Valen’s entire speech was laughed at by most attendees though a few of the hippie folk did give him approving looks before departing.

Lt. Fredrich Mercer II (6477-8566-9478) was critically wounded in the line of duty during a skirmish with CS forces opposing OPERATION: WHITE OUT. Lt. Mercer is currently being maintained in a CCLSU (Cerebro-Spinal Cybernetic Life Support Unit). Vital signs are stable and the patient is expected to survive egress to Tolkeen and a minimum of 72 hours in the LSU (Life Support Unit).

It is essential that Senator Mercer is informed of the situation at hand. He must be contacted immediately as per WIA/KIA protocol so he may determine Sgt. Mercers official designation and possible last rites. The Senator has the Tolkeen Miltary’s sincerest condolences.

And that’s how it began…

48 hours after Tolkeen Senator Fredrich Mercer I (13th Level Techno Wizard) received notification of his only son’s (and only reminder of his beloved wife who died in childbirth) tragic fate, Lt. Fredrich Mercer II received the official designation KIA-NRR (No Recoverable Remains).

Lt. Mercer’s LSU was transported to the TSU Military Hospital and at his father’s vehement request and was entered into the MAGE (Magically Augmented Gene Enhancement) experiment.

The experiment’s goal was infuse a magically trained individual with supernatural powers and spell casting ability, coupled with cyborg-like magical enhancements thus creating the ultimate soldier to do battle with the CS.. This was accomplished by extensive gene therapy and magically fusing a TW-Biowizardry housing containing an Eye of Eyelor to the remains (head and spinal cord) of the individual.

Powerful rituals involving Tolkeen’s most prominent Magic Guild forged the bond between metal and flesh and brought the TW-Biowizardry device online. Over the next 24 hours Fredrich Mercer II’s body began regenerating at the neck and progressing down the spine. Within 48 hours Fredrich Mercer II stood for the first time since his run-in with the CS.

Although facially scarred and pale (think Darth Vader, no mask) his eyes no more than dull blue spheres and appearing to be completely encased in body armor* (except hands and head) The Senator had his son back and Fredrich II was deeply moved by his father’s “gift”. *[The ‘body armor’ is actually an bony plating of the gene enhanced supernatural body and only appears to be smooth metal].

This second chance at life gives Mage (formerly Fredrich Mercer II) a chance to proudly serve Tolkeen in it’s struggle with the CS and allows him the ability to avenge his own ‘death’. (Assassinate Prosek!?)

Technically speaking the experiment was an amazing success, yet in many ways Fredrich Mercer II died as a result of the MAGE experiment. The being he has become is no longer fully human although the Senator could never be convinced otherwise.

Since his ‘activation’ Mage has been serving as a covert operative of the Tolkeen High Council in the civil organization “Tolkeen Civil Defense League”.

United arm’s dealers aliance (UADA)

An organization operating in the Tolkeen area. Members proudly display a UADA plaque in burnished bronze outside their places of buisness to show they are legit.� They are Not quite as prestigious as the UTWADA (United Techno Wizard Arms Dealers Alliance). Due to their non-magical nature they tend to be viewed with contempt by many in Tolkeen but their presence is still known due to the demand for mundane weapons by mercenaries and travelers passing through Tolkeen.

The UADA is supposedly a trade guild of importers of weapons and high tech war machines. They have the appearance of honest businessmen, only selling weapons legal in the area’s they operate. They claim to be more honest than the black-market, though the separation if any is dubious at best.

They do however have the endorsement of B.A.T.T.L.A.K. (Bankers Association of Tolkeen, The Lazlos, and Allied Kingdoms).
Since BATTLAK is the backbone of Tolkeen’s economy, most people look to them for stability and trust who they put faith in. So much that the UADA symbol (a clenched mechanical fist) is on the back of the 1000 credit chip they use.

King Creed . As per tradition, the King of Tolkeen is offered a place on the board to dictate the purchase of arms for defending the Kingdom. Creed has not sat at a board meeting once, and seems to loath technology all together in defense of his kingdom, favoring magical defenses over all others.

Fat Vicks - retired and overweight headhunter Victor Thermin runs a chopshop outside of town selling refurbished weapons and random mechanical and electronic parts (typicaly salvaged). He also has a doctor and mechanic who work there part-time on gear brought in or mercs needing augmentation.

Rumored to have connections with the NGR, since he does occasionally sell Triax items.

Valen captured and rescued

pcs return to find Valen gone, many Laramacs dead, and the church in ruins.
Ronin enters the church ruins where he steps on a landmine left for him. His SAMAS is destroyed. Ronin decides he must return home to visit his parents who live to the west. With now-squire Dorgo in tow, he heads off into the wastes.

That night Ronin dreams of a great disaster befalling the world containing 7 evils. Drago too has a dream, he seems to remember 4 great evils threatening the world.

MAGE and Drago find some surviving Laramac children huddling beneath the concealing branches of Drago’s now 30 foot tall tree.
As soon as they are approached, the oldest says “m.m.my names M.m.Morgo. B.b.bad men came, took the nice man Valen away. K.k.killed..m.most of us… we hid..
T.th.they t.t.took m.m.mEEK and my daddy T.Teek alive… k.killed Deek, Reek, AND cousin Beek! *sobs*
Heavy APC tracks can be seen leading east…

Morgo manages to plug back in the badly bent antenna on top of the damaged church.

You hear him yelling into a badly dented microphone attached to a field radio he pulls off one of the peices of wreckage you can only assume used to be some of the Larnacs motorcycles.

He plays the group a spotty radio transmission from res in orionvill 100miles to the east

“coalition raid on ortonville leaves many refugees dead, coalition seen to be rounding up people and carting them off somewhere out east. stop by my place here and I’ll tell you more, look for the redflagged building”

Drago and MAGE head into the smoking ruins of Ortonville, of the five permanent buildings in the village, they find one with a red flag. Entering they find Rez, who explains that strangely dressed mercenaries have destroyed most of Ortonville, and captured most of its population, carting them off to god knows what fate. Peek and a few other villagers are hiding out with Rez in his basement bunker. Peek offers to go help destroy whoever burned Ortonville but is told to stay put and guard the remaining Ortonville survivors with Rez.

Trailing the APC tracks east, they pass by an enormous crater at the location where the old Fargo hive used to be. There they notice a strange dark energy emerging from a hole in the bottom of the smooth crater, and see a few black Xiticix flying about.

40 miles east of Treetown, is a Convoy of 2 CS APCs one of which is being used to pull large cattle cars. The cars cart of fthe majority of the town of Ortonville. They were last seen heading due east out of whats left of Ortonville (not much).

In 1st APC:

In 2nd APC: Leila and Valen, kratz RPA elite SAM sits in top turret.

On Cargo Bays on roof are 2 platoons of Skelebots.

1 Enforcer Walk next to the 1st APC

1 Tank stuck in the mud at the river crossing.

Also present is a platoon of infantry in strange Skeleton motif armor, and a Dogpack lead by a Psistalker.

After a brief skirmish involving Drago holding off the Dogpacks and slaying the Psistalker after being drained of magic, MAGE was able to sneak in and rescue Valen. Hustling him back to the edge of the closest western LeyLine, they rest and recharge their mystical energies. Valen cannot speak and keeps gesturing wildly towards the cybernetic colar around his neck.

Grey Fox's Bargain

The party rests at the leyline some 20 miles away from the ruined fort. Ronan’s SAMAS has suffered a deep gash to its main body, and of the suits sensors are dead. MAGE and Kash both suffered mildly while Drago was reduced to hitpoints only, taking over 1000pts of SDC damage before retreating. Following them to the leyline, Grey Fox beseeches them when they finaly slow down long enough to talk. (assume Drago has told him that gold fox lies captive in the heart of the Xiticix lair, soon to be devoured).
“You display a fine warrior talent battling the devouring ones. While my son may have lost his way, seduced by the evils of the whitemans technology, I cannot stand idle while he is devoured. The tribe of the Sioux does not forget its own so easily. I am too weak to retreive him from their lair myself, and my tribes warriors are locked in a battle against the Vurduc Orc horde of Montana. I will attune one object each of you possesses to its owner, preventing anyone else from causing it to function. Deep inside the ruins of Fort Dakota, former renegade indian stronghold…

In queens chamber lies Gold Fox, a young indian male with cybernetics. Also prisoner are three female pixies, one toadstool, and a tall darkskinned man with his face painted a muddy white. When no-one is looking the man thanks Drago privately and teaches him some dark secrets of Necromancy (create Mummy).
Gold fox sighs and looks at the goo that probably once was the rest of his friends, and looks down as his father Grey Fox admonishes him severly for being seduced by technology. The two mutter angrily at one another before Grey Fox breaks away and announces the following.

“My son will be returning to the tribe lands to heal from his ordeal. Please, do escourt us there. Once we have been rested I will impart upon you the gifts you have earned today. My tribe lands lie to the west in wandering plains.

After a 100 mile western treck the arive at the headquarters of the Cheyenne/Sioux Coalition. A flag blows in the wind from a watch tower constructed from crude wood branches. The entire camp looks like it could be packed up and ready to move at a moments notice, with a ring of TPs around the watchtower.

A group of indians wearing strange masks dance around puppets, who seem to dance under their own power for a time.

Afterwards he welcomes you to his TP where you see his son lying on a bed nearby, resting. Grey Fox takes the items the PC’s want bonded and casts Attune Object To User on them.

Then he takes the PCs to a sweath lodge where they sit and chat with the tribes elders.

They do a chanting ritual with this bit of Hiawatha:

While sitting in the tent gives drago and MAGE each knowledge of one spell.

“MAGE, your body is unnatural. I sense coruption of your spirit.. and it is not just from the mans technology you seem insistant in relying upon *disdainful look at MAGES tw cybernetics* We can help you remove the taint… if you only let us…”

He gives Ronan a Great Healing Fetish created from a Bears Skull attached to a Spear Weapon Fetish. “Here will be a good place to hang your noble banner one day, sir knight he says with a smile”. The cords tied to it can be used to enhance any weapons you have (4 supernatural Damage fetish’s hang in an arrary around the Skull, cords wrapped around rocks of strange red flecked with black). He also offers to gives you small piece of horn (sure footed fetish).

Then he hands out a bundle of 3 pieces of bark with Indian markings.

As they leave a young maiden approaches them, handing the first Character a small wrapped package. She goes to kiss them on the lips and says “thank you for bringing my Gold Fox back to me”… Inside the wrapped package is a Statue of a Golden Fox worth at least 100000 credits for gold alone.
